Our teachers come from a very diverse background in music, but they all have real world music experience. Many of our teachers have advanced degrees in music and music theory. Whatever your musical goals are, we most likely have a teacher who can help you reach them!

Steve Horvath

Steve is passionate about teaching and helping people reach their goals!

Steve is the owner of Guitar Lessons Wylie Texas. He has 19 years of guitar teaching experience and spent 7 years as a worship leader/music director. He has 25 years of experience playing electric and acoustic guitar and currently plays lead guitar in a classic rock band. Steve also plays lead guitar at several local churches.


 

Adam

Adam believes in the transformative power of musical collaboration, improvisation and practice!

Adam Nelson grew up listening to classic and alternative rock, and began taking classical piano lessons at age 5. After seven years of recitals, he asked to begin taking rock guitar lessons. Having already learned a lot of fundamental musical skills, he advanced quickly and has been happily playing guitar, bass, and piano ever since. 

In high school he joined his first band and since then, has gone on several national DIY tours and recorded albums in many different bands while occasionally gigging in a more professional setting.  Adam understands how important the fundamentals of music are.  He strongly encourages students to learn these fundamentals in the context of the music they are interested in.  

Adam loves rock n' roll, but occasionally steps into the avant-garde. He hopes that every student can feel the same sense of satisfaction he does when successfully learning a new song or skill!


 

Adrian

Adrian believes music is a great outlet for expression and creativity and hopes to share his knowledge with anyone wanting to learn!

Adrian has over a decade of experience traveling through the states playing, recording, and teaching music. He joined band in middle school and high school, eventually becoming drum line captain.  After graduation, he went on to teach lessons at Jonathan’s School Of Music as well as play full time in a cover band and an original band based out of Florida.

He loves the opportunity to perform with people from all walks of life and hopes to make an impact on everyone he meets.  As a teacher, he loves to work with students of all ages and levels and loves incorporating fun games and activities into his lessons.  Adrian teaches guitar, drums, bass guitar, piano and group band classes.


 

Doug

Doug believes the most rewarding aspect of teaching is seeing his students unlock their musical potential!

Doug grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and graduated with a degree in guitar performance from the Academy of Contemporary Music in Oklahoma City.  Doug has studied and played the guitar for more than 20 years. His innate passion for music has driven him to mastering his craft. 

Doug is a proficient guitarist who has dedicated himself to playing many different types of music including; rock, blues, metal, country, funk, and gypsy jazz. He is well versed in techniques such as alternate picking, economy picking, sweep picking, and crossing picking. He desires to continue to share his passion for music by teaching students of all skill levels.

Marvin

Growing up, Marvin was influenced by many different genres: Latin Jazz, Cuban music, Rock, Finger style jazz, Salsa, R&B, Folk, Bluegrass and other styles are part of his musical language.

In the 70's, Marvin played in the Puerto Rico Cuatro orchestra playing Puerto Rican folk and other Latin music. He has worked on a variety of projects in and out of the studio and the stage. He has always been involved with praise bands. Marvin plays guitar, bass, cuatro and mandolin and has been known to sing once in a while. Currently, he is a member of the Finch, Williams & Cardona Trio. Marvin speaks fluent Spanish and lives in Plano with his family.

Aaron

Aaron enjoys getting to know his students better as they learn to play and read music!

Aaron has played piano for 19 years, guitar for 14 years, and has taught both for 10 years. He works in student ministry where he regularly spends time connecting with students, teaching, and leading worship. He enjoys playing and teaching many different genres such as rock, pop, alternative, metal, funk, and electronic.


 

Ian

Ian is excited to have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of musicians through performing and teaching!

Ian got his first bass at age 14 and was immediately hooked. A month later, he played his first gig with a band he had put together with his friends and there was no looking back! The next year, he joined the school orchestra to play the double bass and joined the jazz band the following year.

After graduating high school, he became a member of the Collin College Jazz big band and began playing with a few local artists, gigging on weekends around Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. He is now a student at the University of North Texas where he is minoring in music and plays frequently in different bands around DFW. Ian teaches guitar, ukulele & bass and looks forward to continuing his love for playing and teaching!


 

Ethan

Music will always be a huge part of Ethan's life, and he loves to help other people learn that music is the most wonderful thing in the world!

Ethan got his first drum-set when he was 10 and his first guitar a year later. He would spend hours teaching himself how to play by learning classic rock songs. In early high school, he met his long time musical partners and started a band. Ever since, Ethan has been playing in local bands and touring nationally. Ethan started teaching at the age of 17 and loves to inspire students with the love of music. He studied Jazz Guitar at the University of North Texas. Ethan teaches guitar, piano and drums.


 

Meredith

Meredith loves to help her students reach their full potential in whatever genre they want to learn!

Meredith Hinshaw first began her journey in music in the first grade, when she first learned to play the violin. She picked up a guitar soon after that, and began studying classical voice at the age of 14. Her first experience singing in a group was in her high school Praise Band, and she quickly ventured into contemporary pop and classical styles. She currently sings in the Kalandra ensemble at the University of North Texas. She has experience in the genres of opera, musical theatre, pop, folk, rock, and more.


 

Chuck

Chuck teaches guitar and bass for students of all ages and loves to pass along his vast knowledge of music to eager learners!

Chuck Adams studied drums for several years before picking up the guitar at age 10. He began playing with bands and solo by the age of 12 and performing publicly by age 14. Chuck studied music theory, arranging, composing and conducting for 3 years in high school. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and studied Guitar Performance. Chuck has worn many hats during his career including teaching private lessons, teaching community college classes, gigging, writing and studying as well as pursuing a career in nursing. He has performance experience in many genres of music, from solo to big band, as well as recording experience doing commercials for regional radio & television.


John

John loves to share his passion for the instrument and help students set and achieve their goals.

John Hooten is obsessed with all things guitar. He has been playing guitar since the age of 13 and now has over 25 years of experience.  He has performed in settings ranging from church worship groups to local metal bands with several genres in between.   In addition to guitar, John plays Bass guitar and Piano and has a strong background in music theory and application.  John specializes in helping students play the music and style that most interest them.
